Why does boomer hate joe montana

Montana never signed on, but not because of a sense of solidarity with the rest of the rank and file. He believed a franchise quarterback was the vital part that the teams could build around for ten to twelve years. Predictably, the Players Association, or what was left of it, was livid. The quarterback was supposed to be the leader of the team.

For thirty years the best athletes had come together to demand to be paid their fair share. That unity had produced unimagined riches for both the players and the owners because it had forced sports to start acting like real businesses that deal with labor as a partner. Under the right circumstances, he would cross a picket line and he would cut a deal that would jeopardize the future of his teammates and fellow athletes.

He would act like a jerk. And that was before most of them had any idea who Mike Ornstein was. He took his share of lumps. He could deal with the consequences. It gives the distinct impression that Ornstein has done some very bad things in his life, some of them criminal. In fact, he has. In , he went to prison on charges related to selling scalped Super Bowl tickets and fraudulent NFL jerseys. In that era, the Raiders had Gene Upshaw functioning as the locker room sheriff.

He kept everyone in line. But Wolf also spent significant time on the road scouting and getting to know players before he brought them in. From Wolf, Ornstein learned the value of travel, of seeing players in person and getting to know them. In , Ornstein moved to the NFL offices to serve as a marketing cop for the league.

Then the league came up with another job for him. Settlement talks were going nowhere. A dozen quarterbacks had been persuaded to turn over their marketing rights to the league.

Simms: And we stole some of their plays, their whole hurry-up [offense]. Simms: I thought he was a very good quarterback, yeah I mean, what do you want me to say? He could throw the ball well, he could move well. Simms: Oh, he hated me. I loved our group of quarterbacks, our generation of quarterbacks. When we played the Giants, which was very rare when I was with the Bengals, my dad was a Giant fan, and I just wanted to beat the Giants.

Boomer: I think there is some pressure simply because of the missed call in New Orleans. But at the end of the day, the officials do a really good job. We tend to overreact and second-guess everything that they do. There would be three things that I would add to the replay list: One would be to confirm a helmet-to-helmet hit or an illegal block.

The other thing I think we should replay is roughing the passer. The third thing would be roughing the punter or kicker or running into the punter or kicker. Boomer: Awesome. They come around about once every 10 years.

Boomer: I do believe that he will be a great young quarterback, especially with Adam Gase as his coach. Simms: Great promise. Simms: Tough. And he will absolutely call an offense and design an offense for the quarterback to play well.

Boomer: Intense. And is a football guy. Q: Gregg Williams? Simms: Great hire by the Jets. Brings personality to the team. Players love him.

Q: Not a combustible relationship with Gase? Boomer: I hope they win. Boomer: Fun. Simms: Yeah, joyous. Just plays like uninhibited. Simms: Yeah, they lucked out. Boomer: They needed a personality. Simms: They got it. Esiason, of all people, should understand that when you are a QB coming out of college you are going to go through some rough times.

He did. And Tebow did. The only difference is that Esiason got support from the Bengals and they gave him time to improve, and it paid dividends kind of.

Orton went last year and he put up 21 points per game. Tebow went last year and put up 25 points per game. So, will someone tell me how Orton deserves to start over Tebow based on those facts? Oh, let me guess… because he looks good in practice and has a nice throwing motion? Orton is a loser. Always has been. Is Tebow a winner? In college, yes. Boomer, those self promotional classes at MD taught us to express opinions before everyone else…remember?

Guess you missed that day. Let me add to the flame….. Starting to look like a very nice starter in the league. No offense. I wanted him to succeed but he sucks under center. No pun intended. So, he went , 2 of the teams he played had very bad defenses. And they finished 11th in defense and 2nd in passing defense. Not too bad. Chargers had the 1 D in the league last year, and I believe he still put up a ton of yards and points against them. Where are all of the proven winner comments about them?

That proven winner Tebow was on a team loaded with talent on both offense and defense. It was based on his size. Well, players are bigger in the NFL. Look, enough of the over the top criticism of a guy entering his second year.

Are you saying only great players are able to analyze whether a player will be good? You completely missed my point.

Ever hear the relentless criticism of such a player because of his religious beliefs? Reggie White was a preacher… did we slam him for that? Who runs the media, anyhow…? A guy with a And then if he sucks, so be it. He had success throwing the ball. He got it away in time.

Let him sit behind Orton for a year or two, then decide if he will ever be good. He played in the final 3 games last year and played well. Last I recall he threw the ball pretty well in those games too. As a Noles fan, this makes up for the insufferable BS we had to hear from UF fans who now look like imbeciles for still sucking Tebow off two years later.

The older players always seem to be hating on the younger ones. I used to hate Tim Tebow. I hope he turns out to be great. A lot of hope here on this articles, comments for a QB that has not shown he can do the job. This man has not shown his coaches as well as observers that know the game in a whole different light than us FANS.

Sounds like a lot of fans that bought his jersey may not get to wear them. Being a big bust himself…. Boomer probally has experience in this department….. Boomer sucked his whole career to…. I dont usually agree with Boomer, he says some weird stuff. But I must agree with him here. Tebow cant throw and it was evident his game wouldnt translate to the NFL.

You dont have to win a Super Bowl to have an opinion. You people are hypocrites….. Think of the players on your fav NFL team and how we love to find ways to justify their wrong doings.

Maybe if Tebow had a solid offensive line, a great ground game and a stout defense he could also win a few playoff road games. Sure Tebow struggled with his accuracy as a rookie, as do many rookies. I think people should stop looking at him critically because he plays unconventionally and just let the kid play. Then you will see if he can make it in this league or not. I have no idea if Tebow will be any good or not in the NFL, but he seems to be catching a LOT of heat for having only 3 starts in the NFL which resulted in 2 decent games and one bad game.

There is a reason this always accompanies the massive and hurtful criticism of a guy picked in the 20s in the draft. Im not a Tebow fan at all but we will never know what he can do until he get a fair chance on the field during real games.

On the right team in the right system anyone can be a winner. He was is not worth a first round pick! He will be a major distraction if Bronocs keep him. LET somebody else pick him off the waiver wire and groom him away from the spotlight.

He did absolutely nothing to deserve it. I hope he gets a chance to prove everyone wrong. Ok nothing makes me more sick than to read people arguing about Religion and politics.

IM sure the Broncos are now playing reach around with Orton with one hand and wiping their brow in relief with the other for not trading Orton to the Dolphins. They couldnt even talk him up enough to make him trade bait. Who said Tebow is not getting a fair chance? I think that Boomer is a journeyman, retread-scrub. Horrible, just horrible. Tebow has done more for more people than a moron you will ever do.

Come to think of it, his family was doing it before anyone knew the name Tim Tebow. I have never seen any player face this kind of scrutiny at this point in their career.

It is disgraceful. Everytime I have seen this kid play, he has never seen lost…he has never seen too far in over his head and he has kept his team competitive…as a ROOKIE!!! The only way debates like these get settled is on the field. People should not praise Tebow anymore than they should bash him simply because his body of work at an NFL level is so minimal. Give the kid a chance to play first. Boomer there is a reason the people you work with on that pregame show despise you because you are an idiot.

I think the reason people like you say what you do is just to get a headline; Teebow is bigger stronger better looking and a better quarterback then you ever were. Oh yeah horse face Elway had like three touchdowns his whole rookie year. If he cannot play then how is that the case 11 touchdowns in three games. How did he beat triple coverage with that deep ball in the preseason if he cannot throw. They did not let him throw the next game because they knew he would succeed again and they do not want to have a winner in Denver know Elway horse face is afraid the fans will like Teebow more after he wins super bowls.

What is sick about you Boomer is that you are not being objective you are just jealous this kid is oozing with talent you never had. What people say is never gonna stop this kid from succeedign; Josh Mcdanials was right to draft him and if Miami was smart they would be calling Denver now and offering a first rounder for him yeah a first rounder because hi is the difference between the playoffs for the Dolphins and everyone getting fired this year with Henne in their.

Matt Moore would be the perfect backup and helper for Teebow and Henne should be cut immediately. At the very least a second rounder and a fourth Miami wake up a lose the Henne and get the Teebow. This whole situation with Tebow brings up many questions. Funny, last year he started 3 games at the end of his rookie year and that issue seemed to be solved.

But it is now mysteriously mentioned. Considering he was a rookie last year he certainly looked good playing the last 3 games regardless of competition. We are talking NFL players, right? Also I find it curious that no one on the team is saying much.

Curios since Champ Bailey did nothing but talk about Tebow. Mmm I wonder why…gee you think that is from the head coach and management. Something is going on in Denver no doubt.

The bottom line is you cannot take those 3 games away from him no matter the reason. Those 3 games gave him the leeway to prove whether or not he can play. And ANY rookie qb who showed what he did at the end of their first year would have a lot more support from general football fans to be given a fair chance.

The Tebow situation unfortunately HAS nothing to do with Tebow as a qb in the NFL, and is more an indictment about the sad state of affairs, that socially, this country is in. How about:. Good call on comparing Esiason to Tebow as rookies. Dont have any opinion on Tebow but the piling on is getting well out of control. Fully agreed with the need for commentators looking to make themselves appear as in depth analyzers of talent and try and scrape out another 10 minutes of fame to pump up their egos.

Its the only explanation for it. Who is next on their soapbox to try and get people to remember they exsist? Tim Hasselbeck? Daryl Johnson? Now people remember who he is again. Maybe I should try it. Hey, some guys become legends when the clock is really running and they are paying for all the marbles.

He seems to be a guy like that. No mechanics, not gifted physically, Doug Flute-like. Then everyone will talk about how they knew he was a natural born leader. Ben Roethlisberger.

Bronchoes suck, especially with Fox as the leader!!! Joe Montana has long been heralded as one of, if not the, greatest quarterback in NFL history, but football fans of three different generations agree that Tom Brady , not Montana, is even better.

The three generations did not agree on a second-place player, with Gen Xers voting for Montana, Baby Boomers voting for Jim Brown and Millennials voting for Emmitt Smith, but all three said they would choose Brady over Montana if given the choice between the two legendary quarterbacks. Fifty-eight percent of both Baby Boomers and Gen Xers polled said the Pats star is better than the longtime San Francisco 49ers signal-caller, while a whopping 69 percent of Millennials polled preferred Brady over Montana.

Besides Brady, former Chicago Bears running back Walter Payton is the only other player to appear in all three generations' lists of top five NFL players of all time:.
