Vuze why so slow

I guess it is possible that some of you are getting traffic shaped and that traffic shaping just started to take place on or about the time you upgraded to the new version of Vuze.

I do not doubt that you all are having problems. But if you all are just basing this on an odd torrent or 5 or 8 from different sites or even the same site if that site is a public site it is hardly a definitive sample size. I get this TV show from a private closed invite at least now site and the same user uploads the show every time. That is as close to as a controlled test as you are going to get.

That TV show is downloaded automatically so I am not always at my computer when it downloads but on the roughly 4 or 6 times I have been at my computer when it was downloading [since the upgrade] I have noticed that the speed is the same as usual or maybe a bit faster. The other 12 torrents are a mixed bag from different sites and different uploaders but again if anything they seem a touch faster.

Thanks for your response, Gary. I currently have 17 random torrents downloading and am seeding I've tried everything I can think of, even downgraded to 5. My thinking is that either the 5. You are welcome!! Comcast is notorious for all kinds of madness.

The issue you are describing with yo-yo speeds is a classic sign of traffic shaping. The supposedly do not do traffic shaping anymore. The problem is that many of the local Comcast offices were bought by Comcast and others have always been Comcast.

There is just no concrete data on this but it has always been my assertion that the local affiliates who were bought out by Comcast kind of do their own thing and do not necessarily adhere to "corporate" policy. Or maybe it the opposite. Again there is just no data on this and I have never been able to get enough data to say what is happening. But I do not trust Comcast any further than I can throw them.

Comcast does what is best for Comcast and they do not really care about anything else. It is very possible you are getting shaped. Since you say you are running a VPN you can scratch all of the stuff about changing ports. If you use a software firewall on their PC, the following information applies to everyone who hopes to fix their NAT error. You should never have more than one software firewall installed and in use at any given time analogy: two drivers wanting control of a steering wheel.

Note: For further detailed information about Firewalling click here. UPnP troubleshooting steps. The problem is most likely related to your router. Click here for more information. These numbers determine how many torrents run simultaneously. Do NOT change them before reading Good settings! Make sure you are downloading good torrents , too. The Max simultaneous downloads is the maximum number of torrents downloading at any moment.

The Max active torrents is the maximum number of torrents you download or seed at the same time. Note: If you are downloading torrents from a third-party site, it's possible that the tracker is overloaded with requests and the client does not receive a response back from the tracker in the required amount of time. From the Advanced screen, try going to the details page of the torrent and see if the trackers are online. Click the tracker URL, your browser should open up and should pull up a page.

Also try downloading content from Vuze and see if you would experience the same issue. Vuze downloads piece by piece, and multiple pieces at a time, so at a given moment, more has been downloaded than has been verified, so you will always have a "done" percentage less than the downloaded vs.

On slow downloads, you will most likely download pieces twice if it's slow, you request it from multiple peers hoping to get it faster but you will get it more than once as well. If Vuze happens to crash very rare ; the data downloaded will be counted but all the unfinished pieces will have to be re-downloaded on restart and that will again amplify the difference between the two. You have downloaded one piece completely and have 2MB out of the second piece.

But we don't include that in the "done" count because we don't know if the piece will pass the validation. Note: If you are running Zone Alarm version 5 in particular , you might try disabling or uninstalling it and rebooting.

Many users have reported problems with ZA breaking BitTorrent clients. Additional note: As a general rule, a lot of home-routers can only handle a total number of connections open at any one time.

Your only solution really is the above: reduce the number of possible connections unless you can afford to shell out on an expensive corporate router that is!

If it's your router that is dying and not your network card have a look at the bad routers page. This normally happens when your are using other browsers in Windows OS i. Safari, Opera or Firefox. Download the latest version available. If it still does not work, we suggest using a different browser instead. Note: This is just a work around, but in doing these steps and you still experience some problems, the best solution is to browse content from the Vuze client and not from your browser. If web browsing or e-mail usage seems slow while Vuze is active, or Vuze's speed constantly fluctuates going up and down, you may try to correct that by limiting Vuze's speed.

I have been trying to solve this problem myself but I am out of ideas and none of the other forum posts are of any use. Please help!! Posts: 1, Threads: 2 Joined: Jul Reputation: As you say, if the problem exists with multiple clients then it sounds like you have general network issues - perhaps ISP interference. Then again, you're still getting some download speed so things aren't blocked entirely. Can you try testing with this torrent? Never download more than one torrent at a time.

If a torrent is not downloading or seeding then remove it from your client using the tool provided. You can keep the data and the torrent, just remove the file from the Vuze library. You can disable the daily health check if you do not wish to keep it after 30 days, it is not malware. The rest of this brilliant software is freeware. Then go to the registry tools and run the registry cleaner and then the registry optimizer which will re boot your machine.

If Vuze continues to give problems, use the general tab to uninstall it then re install the latest version using the default settings. Hope that helps. View a Printable Version Subscribe to this thread. Linear Mode. Threaded Mode. Lost Password?
