Search Search. Products Pro V1. Main Discussion Golf Clubs Does bending your club 1 degree really matter? Is my yrds club now yrds or is it more substantial? Any advice would be appreciated.
Please sign in to comment. June 21, at AM I believe changing the loft on your clubs will alter distance yds for each degree that is altered. Willard W. June 21, at AM To me not noticable difference, but knowing they are gapping "correctly" makes me feel better.
Its all mental to me. I know i know Michael O. June 21, at AM It depends on what your distance gaps are between your clubs. Also you can bend your AP2's 2 degrees no problem. Depending on how much he has you swing and discuss your fit, you will probably take up an hour of his time all together. You can't look at the exact number of minutes it takes to adjust a club and extrapolate that out to a price per hour.
The guy is in business to make a living and has operating expenses to be there in the first place. He's not there to break even or give his time away.
If you've been doing business with someone, they can afford to give you some time. But for a first time customer walking in for that, it only makes sense for him to get paid.
And that's not a bad price if that's the case here. Maybe your irons are Miura. Miura dealers give one year of free service of club adjusting. But you bought something from the guy, it means something I never used this clubmaker's service before My irons are Wishon. I agree that he offers me "free" adjustments. I've also had other clubs in past years adjusted for loft and lie. Mostly lie. I can't really recall what another guy charged me but I do know it wasn't high. I know the specs and handed them to him.
He didn't fit me. I wasn't asking for a fitting. Just an adjustment. Lie is the biggest one that gets off. Lofts too but to a lesser degree. If I'm going in to have my clubs looked at then I expect them to be both "checked" and adjusted. Why have them checked and not adjusted?
Those two terms go hand in hand. Check and adjust as necessary. Anyway and again It's not rocket science. You just need the necessary equipment. Shop around if you can. Much the standard anywhere. Lots of places throw the fitting and bending in for free if you buy the clubs there.
Bomb and gouge. Yes, I'm a club gigolo. Wow I guess there's quite the diversity in club repair costs. This really is spot on what I would expect to pay at any one of a half dozen places in my area. Definitely not yanking your chain, I won't waste your time or mine. My swing is a modified version of Bryson's, but in order to achieve that, upright clubs are a must.
Callaway Rogue 4 wood. Srixon Z AW. Cleveland Huntington Beach 11S. Then go for it. Buy a nice set of used forged irons off eBay that are very common so you can replace any that break while bending them with single irons at a modest cost. Maybe ap2s, Cally Apex Pro, etc. You will also certainly ruin any chrome or other coatings on the hosel. The finish will crack Your options is to find forged heads who has a rather upright lie as standard, and bend them to the max, 6 is no problem on good heads, maybe both 7 and 8, never gone that far, but start from heads who is upright as standard, then push it a few at the time, as low on the hosel as possible.
It may have structure failure immediately or it may have structure failure after playing it for awhile or it maybe okay My advise would be to get spare heads for the set since not all iron heads in the set would behave the same for the stress test. A few might just decided to snap while the others could be fine. You can bend forged clubs 10 degrees but you'll definitely risk snapping them. I've personally bent clubs from 2 flat to 4 upright and held my breath the whole time, but severe bending is possible if the finish is not an issue and you accept the possibility of breakage.
I had a set of component heads that were meant for extreme bending. Wishon maybe? But they can go both ways. Pick up a set for a song on eBay and bend away. You can bend forged clubs this much with ease, but you will have more issues with cast. I have broken a cast club pushing its limits.
If you look at his swing from when he won the amateur until now, it has changed a good bit. He used to stand more upright than he does now. There are some YouTube videos out there that show his changes in more detail.
