Creating programs for older children can be incredibly difficult. If you go too young you can easily alienate older viewers, if you try to speak to kids on their level you can misstep and create awkward and unnatural dialogue, and if your content is a bit too mature it can cause parental outcry.
But iCarly managed to navigate these treacherous waters while also being one of the most successful and widely adored children's shows of all time. Some of their jokes were the kind of jokes that cause eight-year-olds to double over in hysterics. However, the more subtle jokes and witty banter flies directly over their younger viewers heads and makes older audiences hoot and holler until they weep.
Rewatching iCarly as a grown-up is completely different to watching it as a child, and every grown-up should rewatch the show at least once. In the episode iS hock America, Gibby finds himself revealing a bit more than he expected on a live taping of a popular late night television broadcast.
The children receive major public outcry and are forced to deal with the storm following the scandal. But hang on a second… a boy was seen on live television. That is not okay. We know that Gibby was punished for the incident but was his age even considered in this whole debacle? When I was a kid I thought that scene was hilarious, but now I am not so sure. We all know that Nevel Papperman is one of the biggest toolbags in the entire world.
Did no one teach you basic consent, Nevel? It was fully in her right to refuse and he should honestly get over it. Luckily Carly outsmarted him in the end, but still. When Carly rigs her teachers' chair to fall out from under her body, the teacher unexpectedly proclaims extreme delight at this event. When I was a kid, I thought it was hilarious. However, as a grown-up, I was doubled over in hysterics for an entirely different reason.
Anyone who has ever worked will know that urge you get to injure yourself ever so slightly so that you can get to call in and go home. I feel you random teacher lady, I feel you. And I've been there about five years and it's been awesome. I actually never wanted to act up until I was like 9 or My sister would do musicals and improv classes and I would do break-dancing classes and I would also have to wait for her to get out of her acting class.
And one day the teacher called me in and was like, 'Why don't you try this out? That kind of started the pattern. Got an agent and booked a few commercials to start out and then got into "iCarly. I think after I found out that I loved it, I was really like, 'This is what I want to -- I finally found out my talent, my thing to do. Probably working with Dan Schneider , the producer. He's a genius. He gives us all the acting tips we need. He's a lot of fun. And then the cast as well.
The cast is great and just working on the set. I've been there for five years and it's been awesome. It's amazing. And that's all created by Dan Schneider.
It's weird to watch Dan Schneider and then grow up on him and then be on a show. It's crazy. It's cool. I like to make music. I produce music electronically and like I said I love hanging out with friends, play video games, hang out with my family. I love paint balling. That's a lot of fun to do. Just hanging out. As of the revival series , Gibby has yet to appear or be mentioned although his return is unlikely. His whereabouts are currently unknown, and he seemingly no longer hang outs with Carly, Freddie, and Spencer.
Gibby is known to be rather eccentric. He was known for his peculiar habit of frequently taking off his shirt for no apparent reason. As Gibby got older, he grows out of this habit. Gibby also carries around a Gibby Head , an anthropomorphic model of his own head. He is often described by Sam as a "nerd" and is a recurring victim of her bullying. Although he is frequently pushed around, it's been shown that he can handle himself in a fight. Gibby is a regular guest on Carly's webshow , and Carly often says nice things about him.
In the episode iEnrage Gibby , Carly states that she thinks that he is sweet, cute, and fun. In Season 5, Gibby seems to have developed a crush on Carly, as seen in a promo. Once, Gibby accidentally chose Carly on the iWin a Date game show on the iCarly web show set up so he could get a date with the girl he liked, Shannon , and they went on a "romantic" dinner at the Cheesecake Warehouse along with Freddie, Shannon , Sam, and Reuben.
Season 5 shows that Gibby likes Carly and wants to "hang out more as Sam and Freddie do. Gibby has shown some attraction to Sam, but Sam has shown very little feelings for Gibby. Gibby once stated that he asked Sam out to a dance and got his thumb broken in rejection. Sam later was forced by Carly to ask Gibby to dance, but Gibby rejected, only for Sam to find out he had another girlfriend, Tasha.
